what? I left for 5 days, and now he's gone? s**t I hope that he doesn't give up on his project (especially if he decides for N64). There would be a lot of Pros: 1. N64 scene would definitely need a good emu with no need of per game configurations 2. If the emulator is well written and could be porte...

Yes, though accuracy focused individuals won't care, as long as its accurate emulation, some people don't even care if it runs < 1 FPS, which is what MESS does currently with coverage emulation on..... actually, none of those wip are currently in MESS (but they'll be eventually) and coverage is not...

Holy shit one of those's posts is fucking arrogant though. If you get him when he's in a bad mood, is bloody arrogant (it was much worse years ago at mame.net boards) If you get him in a good period, he's helpful and answers in a wonderful way when you need help in the development as anyone else, h...

Unless MESS is actually seeing development work. http://moogle-tech.com/blog/ sooner or later those improvements will be included in the MESS source. p.s. I use MESS from command line and I'm very happy with it. Once you setup all the configuration you like in the .ini file (MAME/MESS equivalent of...

Time's up, no cookie :P http://byuu.cinnamonpirate.com/articles/osx86/ nice read. about software on mac: * pros: you have that any *nix software works almost perfectly as soon as you install X11 * cons: if you plan to develop on mac you shall remind that it uses a custom gcc (not based on the lates...

Well, there's another program I will never touch... DANGER!!!!! DISINFORMATION!!! you should google better next time. Coweri...

nss is very close to snes hardware-wise. every difference you can notice on MAME vs BSNES is 99.999% due to incomplete emulation of snes hw in the former (which shares the code in MESS, known to be only partial: it's the reason you get a red screen at start saying the emulation is not perfect ;) ) o...

Nintendulator is still developed, but it gets released only when something new is discovered and added about the hardware... anyway, it is already perfect in everything it emulates (i.e. all the main official games) OTOH, Nestopia supports many more chinese obscure pirate games and cheesy features a...

Certainly, though, most of the DC library is out of print and never coming back. this was my point, even if not as well stated as in your post. btw it is too bad we'll probably never see ShenMue 3, because I loved the first two chapters (for the record, I owned around 20 original games for my dream...

Install SDL and development stuff from MacPorts or Fink. first of all, thanks of the answers (I realized the problem about strip when I finally looked for its man entry on linux) about the macports SDL, is there any particular reason why I should keep two versions of the SDL libs on my mac? if you ...

to be honest, the plugin structure can be used also in a different (definitely better) way. take a look to e.g. pcsx2 it's just the way it's been used for psx & n64 emus to be flawed. and actually, they could have create emus with the same problems without using any plugins... the problem is in ...

Hmmm, I'm not too sure about that since I don't use Linux. Maybe Nach might be able to offer some advice when compiling the Linux SDL version. actually the problem is that there is no sdl-config in native Mac SDL. I'll dig a bit in the makefile to see what can be done to overcome this problem. as i...

until the moment you decide to try one of the few games which only work with the latest ziggy LLE plugin (I recall a soccer game and a racing game, at least) and require a hacked savestate to avoid hanging at start... that's why I hate the whole current N64 emulation: for the most part it seems a hu...

ok. compiled and installed libpng. now it build fine 'til sdl-config which doesn't work [*]... notice that I have installed both SDL-1.2.13 and SDL-devel-1.2.13-extras (and indeed I can compile SDLMAME which requires both). anyway, I suspect that either it's not in one of the path my x11 looks for, ...
