I figured out the solution. For some reason, the current version of ZSNES has issues with Super Mario RPG. I downloaded version 1.42 and I was able to do an ingame save. Some freezing problems I encountered were also fixed when I used the older version. Once again, I thank everyone for their help.

I think for now I will just use the save state as my save file for Super Mario RPG, since it's working for me. Thank you for your help everyone, and I'm sorry if I've inconvenienced anyone. Now, I think I will go play SSBB before I return to Super Mario RPG :P.

Okay, I tried making a save state using the current location of my files, and it worked. So why can ZSNES make save state files properly but it has trouble making game save files, or does the ability to store save states differ too much from storage of game saves?

I think I might have thought of something else that might affect ZSNES' ability to create .srm save files. If ZSNES is located in a read-only folder, will it be unable to create .srm game save files? If not, then where on Windows XP would be a good default read/write folder or drive to direct ZSNES ...

EDIT: I tried it, but it didn't work. Either I entered the path wrong How exactly did you enter it? I entered E:\ into Config -> Path, but nothing happened after I saved at the save point in game and then quit. And as for the read/write directories, are there any particular ones that you would reco...

Now that I'm thinking about it, can ZSNES create .srm files and save them to a USB Memory Stick, or can it only create save files for Read-only folders? ZSNES will create the files if and only if it is able to have full read/write access in the folder. Otherwise, you will experience this with other...

Thank you for all your help. I think I'll just not use ZSNES because I don't feel comfortable messing with my computer's coding just to play a game. Oh well, I'll just have to wait for Nintendo to release Super Mario RPG on the virtual console in order to play it.

Yeah, I'm using an Admin profile, since I only have one profile on my computer. However, every time I uncheck Read Only in the general tab, it rechecks itself every time I go back to the file. Do I need to change anything on my computer to keep it from doing this?

I'm sorry, but that didn't work either. The folder still has no .srm for Super Mario RPG. Could the quality of the rom affect ZSNES' ability to create save files?

I'll give you the path directory so you can see if it is too long or not:

C:\Documents and Settings\(Login Name)\My Documents\ZSNES\SNES RPG\

Is this too long, or should it be shortened?

I'm using version 1.51. Also, both the rom and emulator are saved on my computer. I have all of my ZSNES files in a folder named ZSNES, and the SNES RPG Folder that I created is within the ZSNES folder.

Super Mario RPG Save Troubleshooting

Hey I'm having problems saving Super Mario RPG. Every time I save it in game, the ZSNES won't create a .srm file for Super Mario RPG. I have my rom on my computer in a folder named SNES RPG, so I expected ZSNES to create a .srm file in that folder since the readme states that save files are made and...
