I figured it out. needed to add a .5 second delay in places. XD

Chrono Trigger: Cant open door
Ok, so I'm in the future in Chrono Trigger. I've caught the rat, and have tried countless times to open the related door, but it doesn't want to respond. I've tried with several ROMs. Is this an issue with the ROMs or with ZSNES? I've tried the button combinations feature too, btw.
