ZSNES board

I have a netbook 205 with ubuntu 12.04 installed as my main os. On virtualbox i have xp running and im trying to run zsnes from there. Except when i try to run it i cant select anything in zsnes. It goes from a white mouse pointer to the in game mouse pointer and vice versa but I cant select anythin...
