And yes the most recent filter looks better, maybe when you create and implement your magical new filter that .5% of zsnes users will want to use, you can make it configurable so you can put in whatever pretty little color pattern they want.

This sounds identical to the problem I was having, except I only got it with HQ3X enabled. That is, in 800x600 and 1024x768 the screen couldn't keep up with my sprint shoes, but in 640x480 (in HQ2X) it works fine. Since you say you're using 2xSaI instead of HQxX, maybe the problem is more universal ...

I do agree that it looks retarded, which is why my first suggestion was that he just turn scanlines on and quit being a crybaby. I used scanlines back in the days before Interpolation, but by the time 2xSaI came out I was way over it.

Actually, a couple years back, or maybe it was in May of 2000, it's hard to be sure, some jackass, I think it was TeleKawaru, showed me a WIP of Snes9x with some crazy graphical style, it was like OpenGL bumpmapping, or maybe it was an early 3DFX build, who knows, I don't have much in the way of cle...
