So I had to unzip the original file again. But it would load up differently and I could not load any games in which I had downloaded into the program anymore. ZSNES showed that there were no files to be played. Did you either 1) delete the original ZSNES folder or 2) unzip ZSNES to a different fold...

yournamehere - Dos box is there strictly for console/msdos applications. Zsnes w .exe is a windows only software, which obviously requires different elements to be displayed (directx specially), while dos programs usually have that cspdwi (sp?) package. whats the point of running a windows only program in a console? Try the dos version. Or just make a simple lnk file. If it doesn't work in a DOS box, it's not going to work in a shortcut. And if you're fishing for a parameter, it's easier to do in a DOS box than repeatedly editing a shortcut until ...

Goodness knows I can't remember if this was ever mentioned before, but games which use the 256x240 (I think that's right) resolution have a significant portion of the screen chopped off at the bottom when running in an S video mode, or with the HQ2X filter in an R mode.
