So a friend & I are trying to play online using zSNES netplay. I know you guys get this all the time, so I read through all the documentation, other topics, sites, etc. to try & figure it out myself so I wouldn't have to post another topic like everyone else's... but obviously, I'm out of ideas here.
I'll try to keep it short & sweet.
Computer Info:
He's running WinXP with a static IP & the XP firewall disabled. He also disables his software firewall to connect, so he doesn't have to worry about port forwarding. He also isn't on a router. I really don't see any reason why the problem would be on his side.
I'm running WinXP with a static IP & the XP firewall disabled. I don't disable my software firewall & I AM on a router.
Port Forwarding:
I've forwarded port 7845 on both UDP & TCP for my internal (static) IP on my router. I've also forwarded it on my software firewall & even on my XP firewall for good measure, even though it's disabled. I've allowed zSNES.exe full access through both my software firewall & XP firewall (even though it's disabled, again).
Things We've Tried:
When we try to connect with me as the server with UDP enabled (he connects to my external IP which I found on www.ipchicken.com, right?), a window pops up saying "Could not initialize UDP(6) : 10022"
When we try to connect with me as the server withOUT UDP enabled, it just says ERROR: FAILED NET INIT in the zSNES window.
When we try to connect with him as the server with UDP enabled, a window pops up saying "Could not initialize UDP(16) : 10022"
When we try to connect with him as the server withOUT UDP enabled, a window pops up saying "Could not connect to other side"
...
So I'm a little confused here. I know that v1.42 has/had netplay issues, so we're both using v1.36. I really don't know what else could be the problem. Help?
Thanks in advance for your time & effort.
Issues connecting...
