Movie Recording of Netplay Chatting

Post by FistOfFury »

How hard or easy would it be to code in an option (that can be toggled on or off) that allows recording of the netplay chat while recording a .zmv movie? Um, I don't know if this has been already implented in one of the WIP or whatever, but I know that it doesn't work in 1.36. I have played with people that were teaching me tips and stuff about a game in a training session, and it would have been usefull to see what they were saying whenever I replayed the movie of that session. And it should be able to be toggled on or off, incase someone doesnt want to record the chat text, for whatever reason, like if they need extra CPU power or whatever.

From what I know, this would require a change in the zmv format. For now it only recorded pad input, but netplay chat is not a 'normal' snes feature.

I agree it would be great for demos... it'd complete another idea (displaying the button presses themselves).
I can imagine a Super Metroid speedthrough with the name of the trick, a little explanation and the corresponding button presses.

The toggle option would require the 'usual' asm hell. But I think changing the zmv format is even harder.
Not a bad idea, though.

Yes, during demos is another good use
