A friend and I are playing through Secret Of Mana with Zbattle and 1.42. 1.42 won't seem to work on the computer I'm using now so will we be able to continue our game with 1.36 or another version?
We save in game not with save states if thats important.
Probably a newb question...

You should be fine if you are not using savestates... 1.42 requires you to have DX8 compatible drivers installed, so that might be the issue for you. Of course, you both have to use the same version of ZSNES for netplay.
