Ares Is A Trojan?

Post by Cyrus »

Well since I installed the latest vesion of Ares, my antivirus AntiVir went apeshit stating that Ares.exe is a trojan horse called TR/Agent.968704 even though it has no info on it. Is this a false alarm by any chance or is Ares really a trojan?

I have no idea... how can I find out? Though I seriously doubt Ares would have a trojan in it, on that note how can I tell AntiVir to ignore that file? I can't seem to find an ignore always option. When I run Ares I am spammed by popups of it asking me what to do and I'd have to say ignore endlessly.

EDIT: Problem solved, I emailed them the file and got this response:

"Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

We could not find a virus in the attachment you have sent us. This is
a false positive. We will take out the pattern recognition in one of
our next updates

We thank you for your assistance.

Attachment(s) you sent:
- Ares.exe

I had to bump this thread to mention that they already patched it. In less than 24 hours from when I emailed them, they responded and released a new patch. Amazing, now I'm actually considering buying their pro version or whatever rather than using the free version. This would be the first software I've bought since Diablo II.
