I do suggest rtfm and make sure everything is put in correctly, including the extra power the processor is supposed to get from the PSU. Also, make sure your PSU uses a 24-pin connector... a 20-pin to 24-pin covertor is not guarenteed to be reliable (24-pin to 20-pin is much more reliable).
Yes, I said this a week ago.
I know.. well.. my knowledge of computer building is limited, so I thought the SPLIT connector WAS the extra power.. Anyway I'll know till next time, thanks again

Hello everybody. I'm new at this site and I was really hoping that any of you guys could help me. My problem is similar to the one that started this thread. The difference is that mine is caused by me I think...
Well, this is the case: My PC was working perfectly fine. But i had another PC which i wanted to format because i wanted to try Windows vista. That PC don't have a CD ROM so i just took the drive from MY Pc (The one that i use, the one that is F ed up) and attached it to the other machine, well, it seems that i reversed somehow the polarity of the cable that goes from the power supply to the drive or something, because i burned the damned thing, i mean, BURN. It started to smell like SHIT! so i unpluuged it. Tested the PC, it woked fine and everything. Obviously the drive is now completely useless. It don't matter, cause it's just a cheap ass drive... Anyway, i reattached the CD drive to MY PC (the one that was working perfectly before i took the Drive away) ad now it wont even load the POST Screen, or the BIOS or anything. PS is ok, the red led that indicates HDD activity lights on and the fan starts spinning, nothing else. No beep, no nothing. I've already tried removing all components and trying the board BAREBONE with the same results. What could be causing this? I would've thinked that i somehow managed to short the MB reinstalling a burnt drive, but if that would be the case. Why is the other PC still working even though I burned the damn thing on it... PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE help me because that's the PC I use to work. The other one is kinda old. Thanks in advance.

Did you move the jumpers on the drive? like from master to slave or something? in some cases the PC may seem completely dead if you do it wrong.
