Actually, it uses Famiclone tech. The GBA one only used the GameBoy for IO, with the actual WORK being done by a standard 1-chip Famiclone. Everything else was glue logic and software to make the GBA talk to a Famiclone.ReRuss wrote:wait it uses GBA tech... no thanx
*sticks with his SCSD*
It was also one of the buggier famiclones. Presumably in part because everything had to go through the GBA instead of straight to the Famiclone.

It doesn't matter WHAT it runs as.ReRuss wrote:Well unless it's implemented to use full DS power , then it's not gonna be too great imo , GBA has more of a 16:9 look while DS uses more 4:3 look
Just sayin it's for DS , it should run as DS
Though the GBA is actually better suited to NES display.
While the aspect ratio is wrong, the vertical resolution is exactly half of the NES, and interlacing frames lets you get the full resolution(sort of).
The DS screen doesn't have enough lines, and must downsample the image. Results will not be pretty.
Both have the correct horizontal resolution, so all issues are in the vertical domain.
Either way, it doesn't much matter what the system runs as.
It's a Famiclone. It only uses the system for IO.
And if the GBA version is any indication, it doesn't do it right. I doubt that using the system in DS mode instead of GBA mode will really improve things when the main flaw of the first one was that it was a hacky bug-riddled kludge.
