I am after software to slow down my computer so that I can play Zork Nemesis without the screen panning going insanely fast.
What freeware programs are available for slowing down Windows XP? I know of Mos'lo and CPU Killer but neither is free and I have no idea how good Mos'lo is since there is no demo of the windows version.
CPU Killer works great for the 20 minute period but is annoying when it times out!
EDIT: something that expires in days instead of minutes/hours would be fine too.
Freeware program to slow Windows XP down?

Have you considered Windows Vista?franpa wrote:I am after software to slow down my computer so that I can play Zork Nemesis without the screen panning going insanely fast.

I.S.T., that won't work. It'll just make it choppy and unplayable with random spurts of speed.
Is it a DOS or Windows game? For DOS, DOSBox is fine, with Moslo if needed.
Try http://www.oldskool.org/pc/throttle for Windows games. I still think CPU Killer's the best, but I guess it's not perfect.
Also, check the slowdown utilities here:

I haven't tried them all, but there's a lot of options.
Of course, since you said you've found something else, this is probably wasted help. I'm curious what it is.

I've used Slowdown ages ago. The program can be started several times if needed.

There is no demo for the windows version as noted in my initial post. I was having a issue with a windows 95 game... though there is a DOS version of the game executables on the disc.alexz721 wrote:I.S.T., that won't work. It'll just make it choppy and unplayable with random spurts of speed.
