How to fix Network status? (Windows XP)

Post by franpa »

Hello, I connect to the internet using the following method, LAN -> Router -> Internet. Windows XP Home Service Pack 3 (latest updates) reports my network as unplugged, yet it can't be because I wouldn't be able to post this message or communicate on MSN Messenger :)

What can fuck up Windows XP methods of detecting the network status?

the first things you need to do are reboot your modem and router.

then maybe your comptuer. then from there you might need some router settings changed, but i don't know enough about networks to really help out there.

Does your computer have more than one network interface? Windows XP will put an "unplugged" indicator in the network tray for each network connection, unless you check the box to hide it when unplugged.

If one card is plugged in but the other is unplugged, you'll see one unplugged indicator.

Only 1 NIC, it solved it self now, so I guess just a slightly faulty connection.
