Thoughts?

I will need to watch a few more videos about it, but I think I'll wait until it's actually in the wild before passing judgement

it could be amazing, if it works

wow guess none pay attention to E3. It could be great actually depending on if developers make good use of it.

I like the way microsoft did it, they got a hardware developer that makes a quality product that works.

The thing is it's gonna be a long time since we can play any meaningful hardware on it.

their demos proved that the tech worked but the Lionhead demo was a good move because that actually makes it seem compelling.

I think the way they are going about it is smart because they seem to be selling it as part of the system.

obviously it won't be the only input for a lot of games, anyone who thinks that can be done or even wants to doesn't know games, but it could add insane amounts of depth to them.

It's also just a convienence thing with the menu system, all the voice activation stuff seems really nice.

If they advertise right too they can start picking up some of the casual audience with exersize stuff etc, regardless of how many casuals they get they are putting the pressure on Nintendo now because you can by a 360 arcade unit for less than a wii and this motion controller has much greater fidelity than the wiimote.

Still, there are a lot of wii-like things that it can't do, wii actually is pretty shitty with motion, but does excellent with infared pointing, this is something that wouldn't be as easy with project natal.

secondly there are some applications where holding nothing is fine, but some games it just makes sense to have something in your hand, I'm really paying attention to games like The Conduit on the wii.

Ultimately though I think it looks like a great product but I'd be most interested in using it AND the 360 controller in games and having it be a secondary mode of input rather than the primary.

Nobody wants to play a skateboarding or driving game with nothing to touch, a real steering wheel is always better, but I am excited on how this will increase immersion, and bring us closer to useful virtual reality.

also, go figure Ubisoft is making a camera for the Wii, who knows what Nintendo or Sony will have to say tomorrow, but Microsoft certainly stepped up the game and impressed.

They maybe kind of "me too"ing Nintendo with the motion control and the wii speak-like mic, but I think they are doing it well and intelligently, ultimately we just need to see more practical applications that we actually care about like the Lionhead Milo tech demo, and eventually, some actual games.

I want REAL games that use it as a way to immerse you, I don't want to control the whole damn game with it.

IGN's impression

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/989/989269p1.html

in the article the ign editor says he played burnout on a retail, unmodified or debugged xbox 360. Granted that was just an unofficial demo to showcase the tech, but at the microsoft conference, they said it would work on all old xbox 360s

I can totally see some developers releasing a free patch that allows you to play your old games with some of these new features.

now on with...
