Displaying ROM file name

Post by FinalMinuet »

I was just turning on my ZSNES after renaming my collection to GoodSNES standards, when I realized many of the names were too long to fully display in the file load box. It'd be nice if the text wrapped to two lines so I could see the whole thing. This is especially apparent when I have two copies of a game with identical names up until the end, where the only difference might be a single dump code.

Another related request. Personally, I'd like for the file name to be visible in some way while I'm playing the game. Possibly transparent text at the bottom of the screen. I do video game broadcasting and video capturing, and if the file could be visible it would save me a lot of "What game is this?" questions.

Keep up the good work. Thanks very much for your efforts.

it'd be nice if people stopped using the GoodTools. if the games were named in anything resembling a sane manner, this issue becomes non-existant.

i mean, besides the whole thing with translations being included without as much as a nod to the people who slaved away on them, how many different versions of Donkey Kong Country does a person need?

might i recommend NSRT?

Not happening.

If you're a final user, you don't *need* two roms with the exact same first 37 characters.
Filter your collection and you likely won't even keep a couple hundred, all with very different first 37 characters.

So my first suggestion is a bust. Fair enough. How about the second? How about some small text at the bottom with the file name in use?
I'd love to change the world, but I don't have the source code.

It's just not that easy to change the source code, afaik.

We have stuff for that, but I'm really not seeing the point.

Worse comes to worse I can say 'already in' and let the manual do the talking.
