ZSNES 1.51 not responding at all

Post by WhatWouldJeffDo »

Whenever I start ZSNES I can't get it to respond at all. The One-Time Reminder message just pops up and It doesn't go away. Even If I load a game, which it let me does by dragging it, I still can't interact with the game. Can someone help me?

Please provide more info... what version of ZSNES, what OS, how exactly you're launching the program, install path, etc...
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

It's ZSNES v1.51 and I have Windows XP. I launched the program from the exe which I extracted from the rar file off of the official website and I just extracted it from the rar file. There was no actual install

ZSNES is not stored in a RAR file.

Both DOS and Windows binaries are distributed in Zip files. The linux tarball uses bzip2. If you 've associated WinRAR (or whatever program you use that handles RAR files as well) with Zip files, then yes, it might seem to you that the ZSNES package is in a RAR file - which in incorrect.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

where did you extract it to? which version did you download, win or dos? what service pack do you have installed?

What are you even trying to do to make it "go away" ?

I'm trying to interact with it at all or make it respond(as in the program). I downloaded Win 1.51 because as it says that's the version for Windows XP.
As far as I know I didn't use a service pack or anything like that and I extracted it to my desktop and into a folder named SNES which I made because it gave me a tip saying to do that.

the correct answer would be "i'm pressing the 'z' key like the prompt says, but it's not going away."

---

to make sure there aren't any path issues rearing their ugly heads, extract the archive to a directory with no "strange" characters in the path... say c:\zsnes.

I'm gonna assume you meant space bar. I'm not gonna assume OP did press the space bar until s/he says explicitely so.
