As a possible fix for a problem I mentioned in the controller forum; I'm thinking of uninstalling and re-installing ZSNES to my PC. The only thing making me hesitate is I have many in-game saves and saved states for games like Final Fantasy, which are several hours into the game.
I don't know if saved states are physically saved in some folder. If I were to uninstall and re-install ZSNES....
1.) Would my roms lose their in-game saves?
2.) Could I back-up my ZSNES saved states (0-9) and use them on a freshly installed ZSNES?
Save Files After Reinstall
Moderator: ZSNES Mods
All those save files are saved separately so yes you can migrate them from one install of zsnes to another. The only issue is crossing versions with saved states might not always work.
Ingame saves are .SRM and saved states are .ZS?.
All you should have to do is stick them in a subdirectory of zsnes named saves or something, then under config -> paths, enter the entire path. I think there may be problems with paths containing spaces or something but I'm not sure.
EDIT: Forgot to say, ingame SRAM (.srm) saves will always work from version to version or even emulator to emulator.

Re: Save Files After Reinstall
Given that ZSNES doesn't store anything anywhere special, that's equivalent to deleting the exe file and copying it again from whatever source you have.ChaosTheory wrote:If I were to uninstall and re-install ZSNES....

Recreating the config files might help, too.
