ZSNES causes Screencrash

Post by Xiri101 »

Hi Everybody,
when I'm using ZSNES it often causes a screen crash, as it changes from full screen mode to a strange windowed mode. When it changes to this mode I can't open the menu by pressing ESC, so I'm not able to switch back to full screen mode. Nevertheless the game still runs and reacts properly. Its quite disturbing, because I can't reach my desktop and therefore I can't close it properly, besides I kill the zsnes process.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and ZSNES 1.51 and a 2 tech snes style usb gamepad.
Does anybody have a clue how to solve this problem?

Kindest Regards Xiri101

Please tell us your video configuration.

Also, try deleting your zsnes config files and see if that fixes the problem.

My current video configuration is:
800x600 ODS F No Filters

I deleted the config files but the problem still occurs.
I also tried to reinstall ZSNES but this didn't help ether :?:

I mean, what is your video configuration in Linux. What video card to you have? What drivers?

Sorry, here's my configuration:
-> Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
-> As I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 the driver is the UXA driver, supporting 3D acceleration.

The same problem occurs on another pc with a geforce 7600 and the latest stable driver from nvidia. This system also uses ubuntu 9.10 and the same version of zsnes.

Have you tried disconnecting your gamepad to see if there's any difference?

Thanks a lot for your hint. But it's not the gamepad which causes the problem, but the software package "joystick". After removing it everything goes as it should. 8)

I think I just witnessed one of these awesome times people can have like when greg house solves an obscure not lupus case thanks to wilson throwing a sammich in his face.

Speaking of the devil, I'm disappointed you won't get to see tonight's new episode until sometime in the future.

Very epic timing on your end though.
