So I've got the SMRPG cart, a SNES with the cic lockout chip disabled (I'm not sure how it was done exactly), and the ability to run at 60hz. The game seems to run perfectly, but now I've heard on the interwebs that after a certain point in the story it's going to crash and delete all my save files. Is there any truth to this?
I heard Earthbound had some pretty sneaky protection too, do I have to worry about anything similar with that game, when running the original cart on a modded PAL SNES at 60hz?

it's a stupid rumor perpetuated by people who have never played the game and read on some forum that it can happen. play the game and enjoy it, it will work fine.

<jmr> bsnes has the most accurate wiki page but it takes forever to load (or something)
Some games have been programmed to detect when something isn't normal with the system used (ie corrupt data), and in some cases saves are deleted.
It could be something as trivial as using cheat codes.
So yes, SMRPG could crash and delete your save files if you're using a modded SNES.
Only one way to find out ...

It happened to me twice. Right after defeating Bowyer.
Well I can't speak for a modded SNES, I used the Super FX Fire converter.

then you shouldn't ?Ruudos wrote:I can't speak for a modded SNES
Phonymike knows his stuffs, and a converter is completely different from a cic disable hardware mod, which was the point of the original question.
