Issues with Mario RPG

This may be posted, i really tried looking but couldnt find anything, but im on an ASUS g75vw with windows 7 64bit and for some reason, while playing mario RPG, it gets really stuttery when theres enemies around. Anyone know of a cause? ive played with the settings a bit but im not super savvy on what everything does and would really appreciate a hand :). Thanks in advance!
