ZSNES error
This thing has been bugging me for a long time. I've tried countless things to get rid of it but nothing worked. After I play for about 10 minutes I get this error:
ZSNESW caused an invalid page fault in
module ZSNESW.EXE at 016f:0046d511.

Then when I play again I'll only be able to do so for about 5 minutes before this errpr appears and shuts it down again.
I have a windows 98 SE, around 240 ram, 4 Gb free (I started with just 9) and an AMD-K6(tm) 3d processor.

Make sure you:
0) Have tried both the windows and dos versions of WIP ZSNES, as well as older ones.
1) Are not running the dos version under windows.
2) Have the latest drivers installed for your hardware.
3) Have disabled any potentially conflicting background programs while playing (such as antivirus software, software cpu coolers, etc.)
5) Have the latest DirectX version installed.
6) Have tried reconfiguring ZSNES many times and with different settings.
7) Have no viruses / spyware / adware running behind your back.
Have checked that the rom images you are trying to play are proper dumps and have not been modified. Use NSRT to verify.
If it keeps failing, consider that there could be a hardware problem like a deffective memory stick in your computer, or maybe ZSNES just doesn't like you

Ok, now I ran into another problem. I can't load saved files. I tried deleting all of the Zsnes files and unzipping the latest version in hopes of getting rid of the last problem, but from then on I haven't been able to load any saved games. Also, I when I load a rom it says chsum: fail. does this have anything to do with it?

Yes it does. It means your ROM file has been corrupted or tangled with. So you have to find a new ROM file. But it's normal if you patch the ROM file. Evidently, but we limit the risk of experiencing strange crashes (tm) nonetheless... I had ZSNES DOS crash by a DOS memory manager I didn't know I had, back in the day.snkcube wrote:Actually, he can use the DOS version.c61746961 wrote:Make sure you:
