Inconsistent Frames from ZSNESW 1.40 to 1.42

Post by JAPPsmash »

I've been playing along all versions and I've found a frame inconsistency on versions 1.40, 1.41 and 1.42.

The fps indicates 60/60, but I can see that it's running like at 55 or 59 fps; in other words, the fps are choppy. Frame buffer is perfect on 1.36, maybe you can get a pattern from that version.

I hope we can see a normal frame buffer on v1.43.

Greetins.

FAQ wrote:# Q: How come the video is choppy with an FPS of 60 and Vsync on?
# A: Your monitor needs to be set for a refresh rate that is a multiple of the framerate of the game. For an NTSC game, it's 60. You need to either set the refresh rate in Windows to a multiple of 60 (KitchenSync, see below), or start ZSNES with the -6 switch. There is no -5 switch for PAL.
Try that. :)

You cannot select it in the gui, but you put it at the end of the command line prompt.
Edit: Shouldn't this be selectable in the GUI, instead of just from the commannd line?

Make a shortcut to Zsnes and then edit it's properties.

The targte line should read something like "X:\<full path of the Zsnes folder>\Zsnesw.exe -6". Without the quotes of course.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

Hey Agozer, I believe you need the quotation marks, like this:
"X:\<insert random path to ZSnes here>\zsnesw.exe" -6
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
NSRT here.

I'm not really sure, since my target line does not have quotes, and it still works. Go figure... I think either way will do fine.

My target line had to have quotes, but, eh, whatever. Whatever works for you I guess... :)

The very next question in the FAQ tells you how, except that it uses the -K switch in the example. The documentation isn't there just for looks, you know.

OK, that worked! I already figured out that -6 goes in the command line, didn't work, but now it does...

And now I have another problem: "Super Mario Workd 2" doesn't run on 1.42 o_O

:( Ack! the choppy frames again and I've already set the "-6" on the command line... I did it without the quotes. I did it like this:

D:\Emuladores\Emuladores\SNES\ZSNES\zsnesw.exe -6

Enable VSync and/or Triple Buffering + Auto Framerate + Frameskip at 9. Trust me.

Well, not the answer I was waiting for but it's really smooth :) Thank Godness I have a reasonably fast computer...
