Loading States does not work - They exist, but do not load

I'm not sure what's wrong. I have save states from games but they don't load. They used to load just fine, but now, ZSNES doesn't recognize them. Did ZSNES change their save state names over the versions?

I currently have version 1.42. I also tried 1.36 but that does not work.
All my files in my ZSNES folder are Not Read Only.
I don't think it's my computer's fault at all, it's probably some simple answer =P

Oh nevermind....they save to the ZSNES directory now....not in their rom directory

Are they old save states? As in, states from an old Zsnes version? AFAIK, some save states from old zsnes version will not work with the new ones.
