Used the latest WIP build from July 2005.
Using Windows XP Pro with SP2.

Upon clicking on zsnesw.exe, automaticlly I
get a black windowed screen.

To close it, I have to open Taske Manager and end the process
zsnesw.exe.

CRASHING, you fool.
We're not asking for non-existent problems that are solved with a single press on 2 keys.
We want info on zsnes CRASHING. Can't you read ?

Can't you really ?
Straight from the FIRST post of this thread:
Nach wrote:Crashing is when in DOS you get booted to DOS prompt with numbers on the screen. In Windows you have ZSNES close down on you and Xp users get a message about calling home. In Linux you get the SDL Parachute Deployed.

I don't care if some random game gives you a black screen or freezes in game and you have to go back into the GUI and load something else.

For the windows version, if I start a game, exit to the GUI, then leave it in the background for ten or fifteen minutes, when I come back to ZSNES, it's all black, and I have to kill it from task manager. It's happened for as long as I can remember, but it's not a major annoyance, so I never paid much attention to it.

EDIT: Interestingly, I can hit Escape, and it will go back to the game or something, because sound will start playing again, and I can use the keyboard to move through the menu and quit normally. So it's only the display engine and whatever handles mouse input that's screwing up.

So lockups don't count? This definately isn't a "d'oh my drivers don't like ZSNES's video mode" problem.

Have you tried pressing Alt+Enter right after you open it? That fixes just about every occurance of this case. In fact, I'm almost certain we address this issue in the documentation - even the "old" documentation that comes with 1.42.

In the bug forum, not my crash thread.
You should also read the docs, as this is covered.

Learn to tell the difference between a crash, and having video issues.

Sorry, I'm new to figuring out this program.
Thanks for the info, sorry for ruining the thread.

I'll try Alt+Enter, thanks Noxious Ninja
