Black screen
I have tried to netplay at university. All goes well until I get to a particular part of a game and then the screen goes black.
The game in question is Super Bomberman 2. It plays fine until I select "2player battle mode", where the screen goes black and stays black.
Any1 help me out?

Looking at rominfo.txt is a workaround for those who don't know how to use NSRT. The rom image is good, so the problem is somewhere else.
For future reference, NSRT can be found at http://nsrt.edgeemu.com

Ok. I didn't change anything in ZSNES apart from Input devices. Neither did the other person who I wish to play against.
We just downloaded ZSNES for Win. and set the keys and tried to start netplay. Netplay works in the sense we can connect to each other, chat, and even get up to a point in the game.
Also, the sound(BGM) slowly dies indicating that the black screen is coming.

On second thought, would anyone read it?
This will probably be obsolete with the next NSRT release, though.

I've made a lot of progress with it, but it needs more work and I have more important things to work on at the moment.
If someone who knows Qt 4 would like to help, things will go much faster.
May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

ZSNES compares the 2 ROMs when they're loaded. Internal checksum failures aside, if the client and server checksums don't match, it throws a "ROM data mismatch" error at you. It is possible that the internal checksum was modified at one point to make it pass, but since it works fine in 2-player mode on a single computer, it's probably a bug in ZSNES.Mike wrote:I don't really know much about NSRT but by any chance can your friend have a bad rom? Does it only happen with a certain person that you play with, or anyone over the network?

This game (sbomb2) along with others aren't currently playable because of an issue linked to the rewind feature.
Nach and I got it a lot stabler (as in, no freezes - there was still desyncs) by not using any rewinds while netplaying.
So, you can't do anything about it. Please wait until we find what's wrong with rewinds and make the new netplay code.

I haven't a clue what you're all talking about, but after trying the various Super Bomberman games online and offline in Zsnes 1.42, I've found that you can only seem to play them online if sound is set to disabled on both ends. Game loses a good chunk of its character without the sound and music, but it beats having it freeze before you can get it going.

For great justice.
