CHT file help
The interface for entering cheats in ZSNES is too clunky and annoying, not to mention it doesn't support pasting.
What I want is an editor outside of ZSNES that can edit the cheat files quickly and easily (I've looked for such a utility, but all I found is a couple that convert to ASCII, and not back again) - or if not, at least some basic paste functionality within ZSNES.
Cheers.

Due to my insufficient programming knowledge, I am unable to do so. What I've just been doing though is hex editing it, and I can figure out the new value and old value bits, but that's about it. Since I'm using the same code with just a whole lot of different values that I want to toggle on and off, I enter it a few times into ZSNES, save, then copy that line in the hex editor a whole bunch of times, just editing the value bit.

You can already do that.Dirtie wrote:just editing the value bit.
Select the code, click in the code entry area but just enter the new value.
Poof.
It's in the docs, reading them would've prevented all this.

<jmr> bsnes has the most accurate wiki page but it takes forever to load (or something)
I was trying to find a similar topic as this before going and making a new post. I was gonna ask how (if at all possible) I could open the cheat file and have it show plain text (as if opening it with notepad), and hopefully with simple formatting (left column is the codes, right column is the code descriptions). Although anything other than manually typing codes would be a godsend. My aim is to have a FF4 cheat file that would have the codes for all of the Classes, Charactors, Spells in all spell slots for all magic types-- for all charactor slots... Each charactor slot needs a seperate code for every charactor, class, white magic spell, black magic spell, etc etc... So basically I need to enter roughly 88 codes per slot, for a total of roughly 440 codes in all.
Before anyone asks the most obvious question (WHY the hell would you do that??), this is for creating custom charactors (which i dont need that many codes for) that actually have the spells they should have/I want them to have (which i DO need that many codes for...eventually)

vSNES might help you there (see sig). You'll need some runtime files too (link).
