I am playing super metroid on the zsnes rom, I have defeated draygon and just got the space jump. Now for my problem. I cannot do the space jump to get out of the pit and proceed further I can do all the other actions but not this one. I have tried many combinations in the config input 1, but I still cannot space jump. I simply fall back down as soon as I press jump and or right or left, as stated I can do all the other actions except this one.

I have a logitech precision and gravis gamepad pro and I have of course tried all the combinations (I can think of on both)

I have done all kinds of things ie run then jump I then spin but the above happens as soon as I press jump again to climb or left or right to move accross the screen.

any help please as I am totally frustrated and naturally cannot proceed further in the game

I have no issues with space jump here.

I advise you try harder. Space jump timing is not button-mashing. You have to wait for samus to fall a bit (I think the exact value is 20% of the max height) before pushing on the button to make her jump.

In the worst case, you don't need space jump to get out of this room. You can simply speedboost and jump, bombjump or even shinespark to reach the upper ledge.
