My friend and I have been able to play every game we tried in the last days, without problems and without any port forwarding (I don't have a router, my friend does). Today when we were playing, the game suddenly froze, so we decided to restart... and now he can't connect anymore (I was acting as server all the time). It's just showing up the message "Cannot connect to the other side".
What may have caused it? We didn't change anything about the way we were connecting and playing, just restarted after a freeze. We both have the "Use UDP instead of TCP" tick unchecked. What we tried to do is restarting our comps, but that didn't help.
Any suggestions?
Cannot connect anymore

Rather improbable, because when the incident happened, it was night time and the rest of the people over there was asleep. And the router can't have anything to do with it, can it, since we were using UDP, or am I wrong there? Don't know too much about routers, since I don't have one, but I'm guessing... hm.

Make sure your friend's router is properly configured. How? There is a sticky with the information in this board.
Another possibility is that you ISP just decided to block the ports that zsnes uses. Unlikey, but possible. But it would be a good idea to see if the router is not the problem, even if it was working right before.
