Can you transfere savings from one rom to another?

Post by 128shot »

I've been having a bad download problem-I was playing half way Final Fantasy V and all the sudden the text started messing up, and I think it was a dud download..

is it possible to transfere the saving from this one to another Rom of FF5?

Yes, just rename your srm file according tothat another ff5 rom.

That is, if your rom is called "Final Fantasy V (J).zip", rename your ssavegame to "Final Fantasy V (J).srm"

and be sure to check that other rom with any authoring tools.

Always make sure that you are using good roms.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

or else what? is the "checksum = bad" not a good hint? maybe they need to change it to "checksum = not good"

Some people don't get hints, no matter how simple.

My suggestion if the rom has a bad checksum: "checksum = bad (file may be corrupted)"

To clarify, your save progress data is not stored inside the ROM file. There is a seperate file that was created by ZSNES to contain this data. If your ROM file was named "ffv.smc", then the save file is "ffv.srm". You can keep the save file and rename it or rename the good ROM so that they match.
