The XBAND itself was pretty damned cool, but I guess that isn't reason enough to emulate it. ;) It did have two built-in minigames and it made certain 1p games into 2p games (SNES Doom for example, though PC netplay is obviously superior).

Oh, and ZSNES' netplay was never as good. It had to "rewind" to states using time-stamped input and fast forward to make up for the time "missed" due to input latency. This doesn't help for fighting games. A LAN is low-latency enough, but to make it comparable remotely, you'd have to implement a DUN server and streamline the bandwidth requirements. Whatever it did to sync gameplay was FLAWLESS. XBOX Live will never duplicate this... no Internet-based netplay ever will unless all players have the same local ISP ;)
McAffee says ZSNES has a virus in it!*nt*

I sent my working SNES Xband Modem to Neviksti last year. I can't remember what he did with it (something like a ROM Dump??), and he sent it back. I now have an Xband.smc file that I can open up with the the SNES Emulator "Sleuth", which emulates everything on my particular modem perfectly... save for the connecting and playing other people things.

He sent the XBand back, but then got busy with school or something. Never heard from him again. In the meantime, I set up an Xband related site (xband411.com), and have been doing my best to keep people informed of this great piece of gaming history.
Did he get the SRAM too? What game did you play last? Does it still have all the personal info, stats, player list, news, etc?
Yes, he got the SRAM too. The last game played was Super Mario Kart. It had all of the persona info, stats, player lists, xmail, news, everything. He sent me a ROM so that I can see everything in an emulator too.
