Mega Man 9 being made NES-style is the greatest thing they could have done. After years of spinoffs and other crap, they finally are returning to the roots of the series. I seriously would considering getting a Wii just for this.

I can't tell if I'm the only one here who enjoyed the X series (well, the first three entries), but I still see no problem with this game being made in this style. I think it's an interesting design choice that will make it stand out among more contemporary titles. I'll be the first to say that the art style of the MM1 remake was not at all something I enjoyed, so I'm more than satisfied that they hung on to the classic style. It doesn't really make sense when you think in the sense that sequels should always be pushing graphical boundaries (like the SNES transition to 7, and the ps1 transition to 8), but those rules aren't set in stone.

Not to mention with our limited wii storage space, they probably didn't want to monopolize what space we had.

Anyhoo, I'll probably buy it... I'll probably suck at it, but I'll probably buy it. I'd really like to see more games in the style of the original x series, since I think the playstation sprites always looked very much more anime-ish and awkward. Just my opinion. And I'm still holding out for Capcom to break down and start playing Mega Man like a Metroid game... that would be awesome, even though Castlevania already does that. I truly feel that Mega Man would flourish in that type of gameplay.
I bring the trouble.

I liked the X series I played (1-6), although it lost most of its appeal after 5 due to horrible plot inconsistencies even I can't fix. Also the jump to 3D completely killed my X-boner, even if 8 is supposedly a large improvement over 7.

I like the rockman zero series a lot. It's hard but not artificially so ! It lets you choose how much you suck ! They also took drugs before writing the plot ! Emo drama and Zero looks like the bastard child of /m/ and /y/...
And yet quite decent. I'd like someone who dislikes this series entertainment value-wise to develop his or her (lol as if) opinions on why it sucks.

I couldn't agree more. X lost its flavor after X5. I thought X2 and X4 had some killer soundtracks. Then again, Megaman 2 through 5 had some awesome music as well.

I concur about the zero series, they were challenging but I enjoyed playing them much more than the later x games. And the sprite work was very well done. I haven't played zx yet, I heard it was only so-so. Is this true?

I've got 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and the PeeEssPee remake of 1(it was cheap, and I was curious).

I heard horrible things about 7, and bad ones about 8.

I've actually never played those.
I just know they veer wildly from the traditional Megaman gameplay.

And they wound up spoiling Zero's fighting game appearance in SNK VS Capcom, because they used the GBA version and he looks like a goof.
...
It probably doesn't help that the first pictures I saw of him, he was being nailed by Dimitri's super move that turns the men into women, so he was wearing a skirt.

X7 sucks. X8 is a decent game, but doesn't really feel like a Megaman game at all. X7 has the same problem.

the Zero games are good(Except for the first one, which is way too hard if you're a perfectionist like myself who also sucks at games.), and feel like a melee version of the MM series.

ZX felt halfassed in the gameplay department. It was basically MMZ. At first I thought you'd get the ability to switch between the X and Zero styles with the biometal crap, then the ZX cutscene happens, and it turns into MMZ in both graphics(The main character now looks like Zero but with spikes on his head.) and gameplay. They destroy the usefulness of the blaster, turning it into the POS blaster MMZ has.

I basically said "FUCK YOU CAPCOM" and haven't played it since.

Now, does anyone understand my paranoia about MM9 better?

Hmm, so perfectionists who don't suck at the game like it, and perfectionists who suck at it don't?
I admit having to pull everything without sacrificing any elf is tough, but very feasible. It's the only way to keep some challenge in the game, at that.
It really gets too easy with all the healthups, speed up, highjump, wallsticking, spike pit removal, complete invincibility... yea.

Remember, I suck. I don't dodge half of the hits, and my reflexes are also slower than normal due to a birth defect.

So, yes, MMZ sucks if you suck.

Am I the only one that hates the graphical styles used since X3 on the SNES?

I remember spending time after time replaying X4. Don't know what it was about that game, but it was fun as hell. Gotta agree that after X5 is really lackluster, and of course you can't beat the classics.

Zero is the frigging king* of X4. That frigging lightning attack is so cheap it's not funny, plus the double jump slash will kill most of the enemies in one or two blows.

*Well, Ultimate Armor X is the king of X4, but that can only be accessed via codes.

And he has the flashback where he beats Sigma half to death with a lead pipe.

Best FMV ever.

Too bad the voice acting sucked. :(

Still, most badass Capcom FMV by a large margin.

Yeah megaman is pretty awesome. X4 was the easiest of all the X series due to the easy way of finding powerups. Almost finished X7. Loved the clown sigma. I only finished megaman x6 once over, but a very good game. Zombie sigma owned. And playing with shadow megaman was a treat. So basically here's a question for you all. So Rockman and Forte isn't Megaman 9? I always thought it to be.

the fight against Red, in x7 is pretty buggy :P be prepaired for a lot of anger at the game.

It was debatable.
