Star Ocean (*Spoiler Scene*) Help?

I'm pretty far in the game and I have a question about this one scene.

* (May be a spoiler for some ~beware~ ) *

In the Sylvalant Ruins there is a hidden trail that leads to a scene with Joshua, Marvel and Elise (Joshua's sister).

Elise is frozen in an ice block and Joshua & Milly attempt to get her out when Marvel jumps in the way and tells them to stop. Marvel says if they try to get Elise out of the ice she will have to fight them. Then the screen shakes and the ice Elise was frozen in breaks. Marvel says she is sorry and both characters (Marvel & Elise) disappear...

But...what was that all about?
Did Marvel do that to Elise? Why/what happened, and where did they go?
And what happens with Joshua, does he continue his search for Elise?

I've read so many walkthroughs and nobody has written if there is a continued scene to this later on in the game or not.

If anybody has any idea of the past, future or reason for what happened or what's going on with this scene please respond soon.

Ok, so major spoiler here, even for OP since he didn't get it while playing the game.

Marvel is Elise. She traded her old body for the current one, which belonged to an original Moorian (people from Mu, the lost Earth continent) freshly teleported on Roak.
This is why her art is unique - neither crest magic nor sword skills (Milly comments about that in an event and she quickly escapes the topic, and Jie also comments her appearance).

Getting too close to her original body caused both to disappear. Bad end. Try again !

Before you ask, there's no way to enter that room with both Joshua and Marvel and get another result. Lots of FAQs have covered what happens there depending your roster, you probably never read where it's mentionned.
Also before you ask, there IS a good ending. Keep trying, only 30 hours per game. ^^

I didn't know that there was any other scenes to this scenario.
Now that I know hopefully I will be able to find a good ending to this part of the story.
