Place to talk about all that new hardware and decaying software you have.

Most effective way of making DVDs

Post by neo_bahamut1985 »

Okay, let's say I have some files in, oh I don't know, in .divx or .mpeg format, and I want to put them on a video DVD that can be played on a home (not PC) DVD player. One - do I need video format conversion software and two - what is the easiest (or the least pain-in-the-butt way) of doing so?

ConvertXtoDVD

or

DVD Santa

or

Nero Vision

Tried them all, I prefer The first one. I don't use Nero anymore since 7 went to 8 and Dvd Santa seems like it takes for ever.

I used Nero Vision. Most of the time, the videos play fine on the DVD player. Results vary for me with different DVD players.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

Question, would it matter what write speed is used like it is for PS2 games (where you have to burn at 1x or 2x) did they fix that?
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

The best write speed I've always heard mentioned is 4x or slower for DVDs. It seems to be a strict rule of thumb amongst the DVD burning community.

Any software besides Nero Vision? I installed it, loaded some videos to burn and then it disappears. The funny thing is task manager still thinks it's "running" but there's no way to maximize/recover it. Any others?

Wait, so is it supposed disappear like that? Well, it's been over three hours and the task manager still thinks it's "there". WTH?

Given all of the random issues you have, isn't it long past time for a format+reinstall? Seriously - your Windows installation seems to be a few beers short of a six-pack.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.
