Re: Nestopia UE 1.45
Dammit I really need to start playing regular nintendo moar and stop sucking super nintendo's tit. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out sometime in the future lol. If it has good netplay I'm all for it.
Also for you nintendo pros out there I need to know of some really good games.
I have : (pretty much the simple games) castlevania 1,2 and 3, megaman 1-6, metroid, and contra. If anyone knows some good nes games...then I would much like to hear.
*edit*
I apologize for reviving a five month old thread. No harm intended.

Ok, in no particular order;Mark57Raider wrote:If anyone knows some good nes games...then I would much like to hear.
Zelda
Metroid
Blaster Master
Ninja Gaiden(there are also NG2 and NG3, which I haven't played a lot of so I can't really comment on)
Bionic Commando
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Bubble Bobble(though I do prefer the SMS version)
Adventure Island(even if it is a shitty quasi-port of Wonderboy)
New Zealand Story
Mighty Bomb Jack
Gargoyle's Quest 2
Plus probably a bunch of other awesome games that I forgot about/haven't played.

Re: Nestopia UE 1.45
Alright cool. I appreciate you'lls opinions. Some of these I've played, but I seemed to grab several more. I totally forgot about Kid Icarus. Seems like Guardian Legend is a good game from what I've read so I'm hopeful about that... Crystalis I played a bit. Let's see.. Rygar, will try that... Ys 1 and Ys 2 I'll definetly try since I tend to have a bad habit that if I like a series I'll generally play either, or and prequels and sequels. Bionic Commando I played... was pretty good so I got that again. If I get across Zelda I'll probably try my hand at Ys 1. Played Ninja Gaiden, finished the 1st one. I played Ninja Gaiden 2, haven't played 3. Thanks again for your professional opinions.

Why would you tell him to play Ys on the NES, Grin? There's so many BETTER versions.

Oh ? I thought they updated the engine to their Ys6 one, like they did with 3, and 5.

Naw. Outside the DS, it seems like every version of Ys 1+2 is/are the original battle engine, just with a run button and diagonal motion.grinvader wrote:Oh ? I thought they updated the engine to their Ys6 one, like they did with 3, and 5.

Re: Nestopia UE 1.45
I can't believe I've been gone for three weeks or more and no one mentioned super mario bros 1 and 3, and Legend of Zelda (of course SMB2 and Z2:AOL can go either way), as well as Kirby's Adventure
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Re: Nestopia UE 1.45
I don't think anyone feels the need to shine a spotlight on a Mario or Zelda game. It's pretty much a given they will all be played anyways.adventure_of_link wrote:I can't believe I've been gone for three weeks or more and no one mentioned super mario bros 1 and 3, and Legend of Zelda (of course SMB2 and Z2:AOL can go either way), as well as Kirby's Adventure
Well, except Gonzo. He DID plug Legend of Zelda.
Also, Super Mario Brothers kind of sucks. Just because it came with every NES sold doesn't really make it good.
FLAME ON!

Yeah at first I wasn't going to mention Zelda, because like you said, Zelda and Mario games already get enough attention.Gil_Hamilton wrote: I don't think anyone feels the need to shine a spotlight on a Mario or Zelda game. It's pretty much a given they will all be played anyways.

But then I had a scary thought. What if someone didn't know about Zelda?
There must be at least one generation of people by now who have never seen, let alone played a NES. Their first gaming experience may have been with a SNES, so there could be a whole bunch of people wandering around who think that A Link to The Past is the first Zelda game.
Same with Metroid. You could have a whole bunch of people who think that Super Metroid is the first game in the series.

That's just silly. Return of Samus was the first Metroid game!Gonzo wrote:Same with Metroid. You could have a whole bunch of people who think that Super Metroid is the first game in the series.

It certainly was the first one I was exposed to, owned, and finally beat, years and years ago.Gil_Hamilton wrote:That's just silly. Nestopia 1.40 is the current NES emulator I use. I've modified it so that when you load a game it doesn't display the red text telling you what file was loaded. I also am using FCEU-X's color pallette as I find it looks better.

Re: Nestopia UE 1.45
Those red letters were removed from the Undead Edition fork of Nestopia. They only show up when you load a FDS game.
