ZSNES won't download!

Post by Shinjutsei »

Okay.
I have Windows 98.
I just finished downloading DirectX 8.1.
I am using FreeDownload as my downloading manager, and I have FastUnzipper.

Now, when I tried dowloading ZSNES 1.42 for Windows, I got this message: "Error: This is the first disk in a backup set, please insert the last disk."

What does this mean, and why can't I unzip the file?

So, will this fix the first problem?

Didn't you only list one problem, being unable to unzip ZSNES?

Alright, lemme start over.

I downloaded that file you sent.
I now have IZArc. I have it managing .zip files.

Now, I have a folder containing the downloaded ZSNES Emulator for Windows, a ROM, and an IPS patch. Now, where do I go from there?

When I double click any of those three files, it takes me back to the IZArc managing screen.

I need help bad. Please, somebody...

Are you opening this folder in IZArc, or in My Computer/Windows Explorer?

I open it with My Computer.
Then, once there, I tried right-clicking the ZSNES file. I click "Create Self-Extracting Archive" and it asks for a Default Archive. What does it want me to put?

No, see...
ZSNES is still a .zip file.
If I double-click it, it just loads up IZArc.

Once it opens in IZArc, right click in the right-hand side and choose select all. Now click the Extract button on the toolbar and choose where to put the files.

Nothing.
When I click "Extract," it asks my permission to overite the file. Only...it replaces the file with another zip file. Why? Why won't it just unzip?
Can someone just send me the unzipped zsnes file over AIM or something?

I am extremely frustrated now...
This just wont work...

Try using Winzip or WinRAR.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

It's free until the trial expires. But you can use it after the trial is expired. I recommend WinRAR.

So...how is it not free then?
Do you just mean you cant upgrade it later?

If this doesnt work, is it possible to transfer zsnes over AIM?

Okay, so...what do I NEED?

Here is what I think that I need...

-winRAR3.5
-IZArc
-zsnes download file
-ROM
-patch for ROM

With that, I should be able to do this, right?
I mean, I spent 5 hours tonight just trying to figure it out. I cannot stress enough how glad I'd be if someone just sent me the snes file unzipped via email or AIM...
Let me know if you can help.
I'll check back tomorrow.
Thanks, much.

Where did you download ZSNES from?

When you double-click the ZSNES zip file, and it opens up, what files are listed as being inside?

Fine, I have nothing else to do at the moment...

I probably shouldn't be doing this, but here is ZSNESw v1.42n, uncompressed and ready to go.

OK, if you want a zipper program that's free, download 7z.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Download with a browser.
ZSNES is a small file you don't really need to manage it.

And use any decompression software you can get.
[ I (and adventure_of_link) recomend 7Zip ]

you'd think something like getting a file from the internet would be simple business.

Since when did doing anything on the internet become simple business?
