Just as an advance i am a complete moron when it comes to computers but whatever i try. anyway, is it possible to take a game for example mario legend of the seven stars and mod it to were its possible to play with a friend. Like enabling him to play as the other guy in the party or something.

I guess you could.. but you'd have to figure out LOTS of stuff.. it's not as easy as it seems. It's gonna require lots of ROM Hacking... with your description.. it's not a good idea to ask.
Using FF3 as an example.. it is a 2-player game (if most of you aren't aware), but as a 2-player RPG, it really blows..
