ok i've read over most of the stickies but alas i'm still confused. If i want to play a game with a computer on LAN, do i still need to get all the ip addresses and such? I'm just uncertain as to whether the instructions provided in the stickies are simply for internet play or if they apply for LAN as well.
One more question, say we save a state over a LAN play, is it only possible to load this state back up with LAN play or is it possible to load this up on one computer and play together on one comp using the LAN saved state.
the first paragraph is more important, i doubt the second paragraph is possible but i'd like clarification
LAN play

Re: LAN play
Yes, they do. If you have not seen how it normally works, you would never have to ask such a question. The IP is required for every netplay connection. Apps such as zbattle pass this info to ZSNES for your convienence.tooproforyou wrote:ok i've read over most of the stickies but alas i'm still confused. You can, and ideally you want to do this at times to resync both computers up, but I'm not sure if that can actually be guarenteed. I'm pretty sure it did attempt to anyways...One more question, say we save a state over a LAN play, is it only possible to load this state back up with LAN play or is it possible to load this up on one computer and play together on one comp using the LAN saved state.

Re: LAN play
It's been a while since I've netplayed. Does ZSNES actually require the IP or can it use a DNS name too?Deathlike2 wrote:The IP is required for every netplay connection.

LAN play functions exactly the same way as internet play, but without all of the port forwarding and latency, and hopefully no de-syncing. Just set one PC up as the host and plug it's IP address into the connect box on the other PC. UDP shouldn't be required, as TCP will be fast enough on the same network and shouldn't de-sync as easily.
Netplay and savestates are generally incompatible. You're far better off using in-game saves.

<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
