Simple ASM->C port question
Why is this being done? I can't find the answer for this anywhere in the FAQ nor the documentation. For me, the defining feature of ZSNES has been the Assembly part, which enables it to run at 45fps on my VIA C3 Ezra laptop (Linux, Windows 50fps) while Snes9x would sputter and stutter. I seriously h...

No, blackmyst, I'm talking about the fact that the SNES normally has a different aspect ratio (768x672), and the OpenGL path stretches the image to 4:3 aspect ratio (like 800x600) which kills the experience for me. And for other people too, I'm sure. Do you think the 1.43 release would include this ...

FEATURE REQUEST: Aspect Ratio Correction for OGL modes
I understand that maybe OpenGL likes monitor resolutions like 1024x768 or 800x600 instead of some 768x672 resolution. However, running ZSNES fullscreen with OpenGL really doesn't look good on the monitor. It's the only way to get good ZSNES performance in Linux.... software rendering looks good full...

Right, that's the topic. When you run ZSNES in console, it shows up through SVGAlib. Trouble is, the keyboard keys are scrambled.
So grinvader posted a svgakeymap manpage. Thing is, I don't know what this thing does!

ZSNES Linux & SVGALIB svgakeymap
umm.. there was a topic about messed up keymaps in ZSNES when running under SVGAlib. Which is, running ZSNES linux in a tty console when you have SVGALIB installed. towards the end of the post, grinvader posted something from "man svgakeymap". Some people really don't like resurrected topi...

Another save question (game saves work, but not zsts)
I have a CVS version of ZSNES. it says June 1 2005. I copied my roms over to this machine, everything, made sure the folder is read/write (I'm root anyway, troubleshooting stuff like this) and then I find out that the saves when you use the game to save work, but not the zst f2 savestates. It's real...

for the people who can't be bothered to deal with the crap you have to wade through to install DRI for any non-nVidia chipset, I'd say a working framebuffer zsnes would be the best solution. On my computer, because my CPU does all the work (because my Savage chipset is rather unstable in DRI) even F...

OK i compiled the kernel without savagefb support. And the display issue is gone now. However, nothing I press will make the intro screen go away or the GUI work. Even pressing spacebar won't work. Of course I know that -m makes the GUI go away, but hey I don't want that. Why isn't the keyboard resp...

EDIT: zsnes framebuffer keyboard mapping messed
Yes, another kyo-KUSANAGI question by yours truly. However, this time it has nothing to do with ZSNES being slow (I've given up on DRI, to be honest). This time, I found out that since even FCE Ultra is slow in X but runs perfectly in framebuffer, ZSNES also runs in framebuffer. However, when I star...

Odd..... I put zsnes in my xinitrc, so now it's the only X program running. With software 512x448, idle, no ROM loaded, zsnes takes up 85% or so of my CPU. With OpenGL 512x448, idle, no ROM loaded, zsnes takes up only around 1% CPU. Oddly enough, it wouldn't let go of the CPU when I ran it in XFCE e...

P4 1.8GHz 448MB RAM, mode 1024x768 ODS F -> max cpu usage 10% with only bilinear filter on, autoframeskip + max frameskip 0 [max is 85% with bilinear + hq2x, autoframeskip + max frameskip 9] Right, I know how to uninstall now (hey don't blame me Windows has all that registry stuff to clean!) 96.9% ...

OK, now that i enabled Direct Rendering, performance is up by 6 fps. Before: 29fps on Star Ocean Software Rendering, Now: 35fps on OGL. Enabling anything else, like the bilinear filter, drops frames drastically. Man I thought 3D chips were supposed to take care of bilinear filtering like icing on a ...

Really high CPU usage in ZSNES 1.42 Linux!?
Is it just me, or is ZSNES being a CPU hog on my VIA C3 running Gentoo Linux? Because ZSNES consistently gets 40+fps with 512x448 resolution, no filters and 60%CPU (X takes up the other 30% or so), while my Athlon 1800+ does the same thing with 1% CPU, running Windows XP. Not exactly a fair comparis...
