Re: DirectDraw Set Display Mode Failed
The most common problem is usually causes by moving old files like zsnesw.cfg to a different computer. Whenever you use a fullscreen DirectDraw mode, it usually expects you to support the last known resolution you ran ZSNES with. When custom resolutions are not defined, there will be issues. It is r...

Re: Seiken densetsu 3 three player switch "glitch"?
I'm pretty sure these bugs are patch related, and not emulator related. You have to consider that it probably hasn't tested thoroughly in other issues. Besides, if you do the proper research, you'll find that these bugs have been there for a while.

Re: Cheats Don't Work!
In testing, they don't seem to work. I don't think the translation patch affects these things (in some translation patches they do, but not in this case I believe). There seems to be some trigger to get these codes to work since reading the cheat docs suggest that there are quirks to them. If anythi...

Screenshots are helpful here.
The workaround is to disable Windowing. It's a rendering issue (BG priority or something).

Re: Games Not Saved in ZSNES When Launched from Maximus Arca
I believe it helps to define a save path. Otherwise, it would probably have a path issue. Older versions of ZSNES are not well equipped with parsing paths (particularly if it had spaces in it). So, if you have a simple path like "C:\Emulators\SNES\ZSNES\Saves" (w/o the quotes), you will pr...

Perhaps you downloaded the wrong ZSNES port.. because that's the most likely error that I can come up with.

Since Maximus Arcade is a frontend for ZSNES, you probably should learn to use Maximus Arcade. It's not a ROM.

I would like to report a bug, where the poster did not read my response to his question, which would have given him his desired result.
Just in case he is still blind: http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 84#p215984
Hint: Custom res in a DS Windowed mode with Use 4:3 Ratio unchecked.

Re: 16:9 Viewing Causing Image Stretching
I love how the guy PMed me... I'm sure I'll get flamed as a response. DR is rather limited, because it is scaled at whole number multiples (so you are almost guaranteed a black void). It is already available in ZSNES for custom resolutions (to a limited extent IIRC). I don't understand why you can't...

Re: Antivirus Software
AVs these days get their "tentacles" all over the place. General networking problems can be attributed to them. You would hope these things would cause minimal stress to the system, but even with multi-core systems, I guess some people like poop (shitty AVs) in their comps.

Re: FF6 freeze
The game was hard/prepatched with the most common FF6 translation AFAIK... it's not necessarily bad, but it's so much better to soft patch the games than relying on hardpatched games.

Re: FF6 freeze
IIRC, there are bugs relating to that option under a limited set of circumstances. I can't remember what exactly.
Anyways, just change the default behavior for those changes in FF3/FF6's Config section.
Also, Genji Glove > Gauntlet except in like one case.

Re: Problem with ZSNES & Windows 7
What he's suggesting is that there's a background application that causing that behavior. Consider closing unneeded applications. Even something like Winamp or your favorite IM app could be causing something like that. Winamp and other music apps tend to cause music to not play or play correctly. IM...

Re: Article about how desktop UIs changed over the years
I had a gigabyte on my 486 running MS-DOS 6.22. EAT THAT, BITCHES! So what, I had a 512MB HD on a 486 (with one of those overdrive 5x86 processors) running Win98SE. Partitioned in FAT32 (although I had to use the FAT32 conversion tool in Windows, but that worked well enough). This with a shitacular...

love how you conveniently left out windows 2000... windows 2000 was not a consumer-oriented OS. note that NT 3.1, 3.5, and 4.0 were also omitted. As were 2003 and 2008. indeed. i wonder how many people see the parallels between 2000/XP/(2003/XP x64) and (Vista/2008)/(7/2008 R2)? The second time's t...

Is it all or some of the games that are crashing? I'm hazarding a guess that those that are crashing use save data, such as the game you have mentioned.
