Re: nemulator
IMO, nearest neighbor filtering looks like crap -- just curious why you'd want that. Do you prefer the look, or is there some other reason? - It looks much better on a CRT monitor or CRT TV - On an LCD display, bilinear filtering washes out the colors - Nearest neighbor looks great when combined wi...

Re: AMD & NV drivers - now with OpenGL 4.2 & OpenCL 1.1 supp
Both NVIDIA and AMD have released beta drivers with OpenGL 4.2 support. NOTE: AMD's beta driver may not have all the extensions yet. Instead we get most of the GL 4.2 stuff + loads of bugfixes (which is even better IMO). The stability, performance and image quality has improved a lot since the last ...

Re: D3D/OpenGL shader thread. Reborn.
I currently don't have a PC thats old enough for good speed testing. I am stuck with...a hex core, 8GB RAM, and a gtx460 I'm afraid.... That's easy to 'fix': disable five cores in the BIOS, enable Cool'n'Quiet and force the cores to run at 800 MHz in the Windows 7 Power Options. Enjoy your old 800M...

Re: AMD & NV drivers - now with OpenGL 4.1 + OpenCL 1.1 supp
New AMD drivers (Catalyst 11.5a hotfix Rev.3) with more OpenGL extensions and important GL bugfixes. Total extension count increased to 220 :) On the NVIDIA side, there's even more - the latest beta driver sets a new record with 274 (!) (NOTE: Some of them are NVIDIA-exclusive + there's 18 new GL ES...

UPDATE: I finally found out the cause of the Windows Firewall issue - it's not caused by any of the AMD Fusion services, but by a Windows 7 (64-bit) bug :( Here's how to reproduce it: - You must have a manually assigned/configured NIC/IP address/router - DHCP service disabled - DNS Service disabled ...

Re: AMD & NV drivers - now with OpenGL 4.1 + OpenCL 1.1 supp
Yeah, that UVD3 hardware really sounds like it's only having problems with QuadHD. Yup, no problems with 1080p60. AMD's support for 1080p60 in its lowest end cards is laughable. You need at least a HD 5570 (or a 6xxx series low-end discrete card with UVD3) for smooth 1080p60 playback. Ganesh T S Re...

Re: AMD & NV drivers - now with OpenGL 4.1 + OpenCL 1.1 supp
1080p60 is working fine here with UVD 2.2 (on Windows, with the ffdshow DXVA decoder).kode54 wrote:But their hardware still can't do 1080p60.
It's QuadHD (3840x2160) VA that doesn't work at all with AMD cards (QuadHD H.264 is a bitch to decode)

Re: Gambatte 0.4.1 released
It's possible that ASIO does some more format conversions than WASAPI. Your drivers probably don't accept 16-bit stereo (I assume you tried different sample rates). That's probably true: Since the WaveHQ output always operates at 24bit, it may need a different bitdepth (24-bit or 24-bit padded to 3...

Re: Gambatte 0.4.1 released
While the wave hq output may allow you to bypass the hardware DSP, using DirectSound instead of WASAPI means that you pass through an additional software DSP layer instead. Even if tthe sound passes through that layer, the Win7 resampler does a much better job than the 'hardware' one performed by t...

@grinvader:
96kHz = direct output, bypasses the shitty resampling
If the card didn't do the double resampling at 48kHz, I'd use that seting instead

Re: Gambatte 0.4.1 released
Auto-mute? I've only gotten that if I set audio engine to DirectSound and disable global buffer, IIRC. Any reason not to use WASAPI on windows 7? Yeah, that's the setting I'm using at the moment (DirectSound, 96000Hz, Global buffer OFF) I can't use WASAPI output with the kX Project drivers - exclus...

Ditch the Roasted Fox / Interweb Exploder and upgrade to a real browser. You have the choice of: - Opera 11.10 "Barracuda" : http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2011/02/17/a-first-glimpse-at-barracuda or - a bleeding-edge build of Chromium 11: http://build.chromium.org/f/chromium/snapshot...

Re: Gambatte 0.4.1 released
So when are we going to see the next release (0.4.2)? It's been more than two years since the last update. Can't wait for the stutter/lock-free A/V sync and the DMG improvements. The current version is unusable on Windows 7 (especially with Aero) :( Looks like Gambatte v0.4.1 doesn't like the combin...

Re: Looking to build a new PC [EDIT: Built]
Meanwhile, prices of both AMD's Phenom II X6 1090T hex core, and Core i7-950 quad core have been slashed to $200. Good time to buy one of these things if you are planning on upgrading on budget. But both AM3 and LGA1366 are basically EOL though so your upgrade options will be very limited. Not real...

* NVIDIA strikes back - SRAA (Subpixel Reconstruction Anti Aliasing) to counter AMD's MLAA. Gotta love competition
* AMD finally fixed the screen tearing (VSync) issue on Linux with Catalyst 11.1 - awesome!

Re: AMD & NV drivers - now with OpenGL 4.1 + OpenCL 1.1 supp
Catalyst 11.1a brings some cool new features for AMD cards:
- New OpenGL extensions (216 total) + bugfixes
- Greatly improved OpenCL performance (~2x faster)
- Tesselation slider for controlling the tess. level and a new 'AMD Optimized' tessellation setting
- A much more stable (less buggy) CCC2
