Re: Any good RPG's in the last year or two?
I'm starting to remember why I stopped posting here in the first place. You're all just a bunch of elitist pricks. You can chalk it up to whatever the fuck you want, but my point is that the genre was better 20 years ago than it is today. Now unless Hamilton would like to derail us by being a sarcas...

Re: Any good RPG's in the last year or two?
/sarcasm Oh shush. I just meant that when the gameplay and graphics were simpler then the games were more enjoyable, maybe because they had to catch your eye with a decent story rather than dazzling it with pretty visuals. All the problems that you listed are valid, and I agree 100%, but I think th...

Re: Any good RPG's in the last year or two?
on ds, quite a few solid rpg's have dropped. recently, FF:4 heroes of light and golden sun 3. the two shin megami tensei titles are also very good. for me, it really seems like most jrpg's have been falling flat lately. over-convoluted stories, and forced grinding are not throwbacks. I agree 100%. ...

Re: Any good RPG's in the last year or two?
I think that it's story-driven enough to qualify, and that seems to be what he's after most; a good story. It reminded me a lot of Dark Corners of the Earth, for the original Xbox, which I highly recommend as well.

Re: Any good RPG's in the last year or two?
Bioshock, no question. I've also heard good things about Dragon Age, though I've yet to pop it in myself, and if you liked Fallout then you'll probably like Oblivion as well (think same game, fantasy setting).

Agreed. Usually games based on comics or movies are terrible, but Arkham really broke the mold.kode54 wrote:Batman: Arkham Asylum. Unquestionable kickassitude.

Yeah, I won't argue with that, it was kind of a letdown. Boss fight was pretty easy too. I had more trouble with my first Rosie than with that guy.snkcube wrote:It has the crappiest endings ever, but it was fun.magitek369 wrote:Just finished Bioshock. Good game. Would recommend.

I can understand the desire for accuracy in emulation, but when the majority of games are already playable, it's not hard to see why his crusade didn't attract many followers.

Re: State of SNES Emulation - 2010
I've had some older controllers stop working properly but nothing that popping then open and cleaning out the gunk didn't fix. The only major problem I've had was with the Xbox, where I had two controllers die due to twisted wiring, but I was able to fix those by making some cuts and soldering them ...

Re: State of SNES Emulation - 2010
But as we've seen, what SHOULD happen isn't what IS happening. I've seen nothing to indicate that more modern systems are any more or less reliable than older ones. It should also just be a simple matter of comparing statistics, but I've yet to find anything more solid than the above picture, which...

Well, I'm just using melt as a synonym for kill. You know what I mean. I didn't, actually. I assumed you thought major physical damage was required for data loss. Electronics are delicate stuff. Even I know that. :P Still, I'm happy enough. Not that I'm planning on burning the house down anytime so...

All other things being equal, anything that has a cooling fan or disk drive should fail before anything that doesn't.
