Zsnes is very modest when it comes to hardware. I think one of those small via motherboards with an intergrated cpu would work well. You could also use a smaller compactflash card instead of an HD. I recently installed Slackware 10 on an old laptop i have at home and then when i found out that there was a linux zsnes port i promptly installed that.
