ZMV PLAYER ?!?

Post by Taggy »

Hi all

since a few years i cant thank you guys often enough for that perfect emulator !! its a GOD!

the coolest thing is that we can record and play zmv movies !

@ zophar i found comlete played recordet movies like for crono trigger and final fantasy 6 ....

but if i play them with the newest version of zsnes it dont really works fine !

is it possible for u guys to maybe make an zmv player only for play these files ? like load rom and zmv and run !

hm maybe a idea as a new project for u if u have time or fun to make it !

that whould be the coolest thing in my life cuz im an rpg freak and nothing is so cool as watching the old classic rpgs playing alone !

another question: is there any way to convert or record those movies in avi or other formats ?

thx for all answers :D

sry for bad english im from germanY :D

bye [/b]

The ZMVs are really nothing more than recorded button presses. At this point in time anyway. To get those ZMVs working properly, you'll need to use the same vesion of ZSNES as was used to create those ZMVs.

In case you didn't understand, I'll give you an example: If a ZMV was recorded with ZSNES v1.337, you need to use that.

sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

If the movie was recorded using that same version but it freezes for you I guess the ROM you have is either bad or a different version which doesn't work.

Why don't you just try experimenting with some different versions. You may get a newer one thatn .989 that it may still work in.

Be warned though, even if it works, it may not work 100% like it's supposed to. Timing is critical to a .zmv file. For example, a button is pressed in the movie, but not at the exact same time on all versions of ZSNES. That may result in absolutely no conequences at all, but then again, it may result in the player dying instead of whipping through Super Metroid without dying.

It'd be cool if someone made a program that gave you 3 things you had to feel in.

1 - ZMV file.

2 - ROM file.

3 - Version of zSNES (as an option).

This would have inserted in it all the cores that had ZMV playback, allowing you to watch a movie no matter what version it was.

Obviously I'm not gonna make it, but still, I think it'd be cool.
