Small bug in latest wip

Post by Thalon »

I'm talking about 03/07 DOS wip: zsnes didn't read the saved settings from config files created before the version upgrade, so I just deleted zsnes.cfg e zguicfg.dat, but after that no newer files were created (only zmovie.cfg was); I switched to 02/28 DOS wip and everything worked again.

Stick with the previous WIP until this gets fixed.

It does look like a nasty bug though.

Have you used the save config option though?
Misc -> Save Cfg

Yes, the DOS port sometimes doesn't find the configuration files.
However, if you open a DOS box, go to the zsnes directory and start zsnes from there, it should work. If not, exit zsnes and restart it again. That helped for me (it had Windows 95, however). Then again ... I just tried it on another PC (that had Windows XP), and it didn't work. :( It also doesn't save the config files in a different directory. You could try it in plain DOS, however, XP doesn't have that anymore.

Also, in the latest WIP, both ports (DOS and Win, I don't know about Linux) set the max frame skip value to 0 if you load or reset a game. That means after doing that you have to go to config->speed and increase the max frame skip again, if you need it. I've already told Nach about that, so it might be fixed in the next WIP.

Tried all the things you suggested (dos box, plain dos, restart zsnes) with no luck.
The bug occurs on wip 03/19 too, so the best thing is to wait till it gets fixed...

BTW, i don't think that zsnes can save config files in different directories other than zsnes' directory itself, it can only save everything else (savegames/savestates, snapshots, spc) everywhere you want...

iirc, in the SDL version, you can fix one line in the source (the line which points the configs to .zsnes) to anything you wish, then recompile.

I forgot which file and line though. :x
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
NSRT here.

It happens occasionally. I don't know what could causing it.
