PROBLEM. PLEASE HElp!

Post by linds12 »

i recently installed ZSNES, everytime I try and use it an error message comes up that says "IDirectDraw7::SetDisplayMode Failed. Make sure your video card supports this mode." I have the latest DirectX (9.0c) and have installed it twice. I have changed the color to 16bit. Disabled both Direct3d and DirectDraw and enabled them again. I know that this topic has been on here before but none of the options seem to help........Any more suggestions please?!

Update video card drivers? What kind of video card do you have?

To be quite honest with you, and seeing how you've tried almost every trick in the book... I'm stumped.

Have you tried reinstalling your video card drivers? Anorther option would be to use a DirectX uninstaller, and then installing DirectX once more, but those uninstallers can fuck up your computer pretty good.

yeah I did reboot after I installed Dx, a number of times, but finally I figured out how to work it somehow. For other people that may have a similar problem what I did was
Left click SNES Emulator > Properties > Compatibility >
check the Run in compatibility mode for : Windows 95
and under Display Settings click Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution... (Only click that one, make sure none other are clicked) ..press Apply
For some reason It will only work in that screen resolution and not full screen, if any one has any ideas on how to fix this, let me know!!

Also, I think that deleting the config. files might have helped it work also.

It must be the Windows version, given the error message.

You shouldn't need to do that. It sounds like you are running XP. What version of ZSNES are you using? Please use the latest official version (1.42). Please gives the specs of your system. This would need the CPU/RAM/Video card info.
