Frame Rate

Post by ALANTHEBLOB »

How do I slow down the frame rate to really, really slow. Maybe less than one per second. I need to capture some sprites, but I can only capture one of him standing still, so I need help. Thanks.

While running the game, hit F1 and select Snapshot/Incr Frame Only or Incr Frame only.

What is that? Sorry, I'm a newb at this, I just got it.

I tried that, but it only does it for like a second, which doesn't help me. I need to slow the frame rate, so I capture frame by frame the sprite I want.

Um.. the feature does work.. you just need to use that option multiple times... the feature literally increments the screen by a frame. This is exactly what you need.

Yeah, but I can't move and use that at the same time. Is there something I am missing? Please try to explain in n00bish as that is all I understand right now.

Ugh...

What may be easier then.. if you need movement is to get a copy of one of the WIPs at http://zsnes.ipherswipsite.com and do the following..

When you are using one of the WIPs, make sure to delete the .dat+.cfg files in the folder you put the WIP in...

In in the GUI, goto Config-> Speed

Make sure you define a slowdown key.. and increase the slowdown ratio as far as it can go so you can move. While running the game, you can either hold down the defined slowdown key or make sure "toggled fast forward/slowdown" is enabled in the same screen then I've explained to you... so you can just toggle the slowdown key on and off...

Okay, what is that? Or should I just Google it? And is it free?

Just record a ZMV, then play it back. During playback, use the snapshot/increment frame feature

I seem to remember a site where you can download the sprites for hundreds of games and characters in ready made standard .gif's with transparent backgrounds. I can't remember the address but it's a lot easier than making your own if you can find it.

Yeah, I know of one: TSR, but I don't like to use other people's sprites, because I don't want to have their name on it. And I figure that if I capture my own sprites that it will help me on making my own custom sprites too.

You may also visit GSArchives (link :P). I'm an admin there, but I don't update as much as I should.

Animget captures frames from the current active window. Every time there is a graphical difference in the window, it captures that frame. So, turn off the background layers so their movements don't cause it to capture the frames when the background moves. I think you should be able to figure the rest out with the Readme :).

Yeah, it really works. I captured alot of stuff that I needed. Oh and I'll be sure to check out GSArchives :) Anyway, thanks to everyone that gave me ideas and stuff. And if you find an easier way, please tell me, thanks :D
