Want to play with a friend over the net? Find out all the info you need on how to configure your PC, network and of course ZSNES. Also the correct place to find people to play with and what software they use.
hey my friend and i have both been trying to play sd3 over the net, but for some reason we can both never connect... we both have tried everything, switching from udp and tcp/ip, each of us taking turns hosting, fixing up our routers and even turning off our firewalls and nothings working... any ideas?
im using adelphia cable and i have a DLink router
hes using sbc (i think) and he said hes not using a router
well a month or so ago, i remember configuring my routers and firewalls so that it could work, and with my other friend (who like me, uses adelphia) we got it working... but to my dismay, i tried going on zbattle today to play with other people, and nothing sparked...
Well I have a D-link also. It happens to me sometimes. Usually the problem is because of some odd reason my ip address changed it. SO I would have to switch to ports to be configured on the new ip address.
would adelphia have anything to do with it? cause for some reason i couldnt play with the other people on zbattle yesterday... so the only time i have ever gotten it working was with my friend who uses adelphia... and when you say ip which do you mean? for some reason i get two different ips... i get the usual 192.168..*.*** that most router ones have that zsnes tells me it is, and then using sites like whatismyipaddress.com i get one with a 70.36.*.*** kinda deal...

Since you're going to be playing on ZBattle, you'd need your WAN/Internet address, aka whatever the boat whatismyip.com/ipchicken.com/moo/whatever reported.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours? NSRT here.
Well adelphia might have a firewall that will not let you play with people that isn't on adelphia. I mean for example, I have a router, I cannot play with people outside my router unless I configure ports. Does adelphia have any firewall or port fowarding you can do with it?
none that i know of... and even when i try to let zbattle connect me to play with anyone it doesnt work.. and my friend told me (when we tried connecting via zbattle) he told me that zbattle tried inputting the 70.36 ip for me and not the router one
so when i ask my friend to connect with me, im guessing its gonna work with the 70.36 (the whatismyip) one, and not the one that zsnes tells me it is right?

It should work with the one zsnes tells you.
Ah, no. If he is behind a router, zsnes will give him the IP that's being assigned by the router, which would work in a LAN. But not playing with other people outside of said LAN.

So, you are behind a router, you need to forward your ports. After that, try using the IP that is given to you by IPchicken or whatever site you are using.
