A SERIOUS PROBLEM!

Yes, well I got this serious problem! I got Zsnes version 1.42. Anyways, I try to netplay with my friend and it just won't work. We both turned off our firewalls so we could be really sure and still no luck. Everytime I tried to connect with him, it said that it found me but nothing happened after that. Everytime I host, nothing happens at all. He tried it with another friend and it did work for them two. Anyways, I did realize though that my IP address that Zsnes tells me under the "connect to server" button differs from my real IP address that I checked at www.whatsmyip.org. I tried to connect to myself with the IP address that Zsnes gives me and I did connect to myself. However, when I try to connect to myself with my real IP address from whatsmyip.org then it won't connect. By the way, I have DSL. So do any of you know any sort of solution to this problem?

Of course you can't connect to yourself on DSL with the IP whatismyip.com gives you, because apparently that's not how DSL works. I learned this myself the hard way.

What you're going to need to do, is give this IP to your friend. You also need to forward ports in your router/modem, read the docs of the router/modem or see this.

Well, I can connect to myself with the IP address that the Zsnes gives me. I cannot connect to myself with my original IP address from whatsmyip.org however. Anyways, which IP address do I give to my friend? The one that the zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator) gives me or my original one that whatsmyip.org gives me? By the way, how do forward my ports? By the way, for whoever trolled in my post saying that I don't know the name of the emu, go FUCK yourself. I've mentioned many times that I have Zsnes 1.42. Cockfuckers..

That's a board filter that adds the text if you spell ZSNES as with NES instead of SNES :/

For the problem, www.portforward.com has direcitons on how to forward ports. Pick out your model of modem / router if it has it and follow whatever it tells you to do. The instructions are pretty good so you should be alright.

But I didn't misspell ZSNES. If you look back at my post where that filter came in, you'll see that I didn't forget to put the "s" in ZSNES.

Why don't you test the board filter for yourself? Spell ZSNES wrong.. the board filter will replace it with the correct spelling and the message... what's there to it?

Why don't you test the board filter for yourself? Spell ZSNES wrong.. the board filter will replace it with the correct spelling and the message... what's there to it?

I didn't spell it wrong though goddamnit. I only put it in lowercase letters. What's wrong with that?

It still doesn't matter though. They are talking about my misspelling when I didn't misspell anything. I just put it in lowercase letters, that's not misspelling it.
