Is there a way to detect someone using turbo?

Want to play with a friend over the net? Find out all the info you need on how to configure your PC, network and of course ZSNES. Also the correct place to find people to play with and what software they use.

Is there a way to detect someone using turbo?

Post by edisaurusrex »

I'm starting a Tecmo Super Bowl 1 league, and I hope I can find a way of finding out if someone is using turbo. In our other nes league, we would use the movie files in order to find this out with Nesticle. Does anyone know of a good way of finding this out?

Thanks, (again)

You could analyze the ZMV files if you familiarize yourself with the internal format. This is documented somewhere in the ZSNES source code. I think that VSNES might have the ability to deconstruct ZMV files like it does for savestates...but I have never done that

[edit]
I think that creaothcann is working on ZMV support. Useful information here:

Are you sure you can even use turbo when netplaying?

I remember a while back mapping X button to turbo for contra III but when I went online nothing happens....

I'm not sure if it changed somewhere along the line but I don't think it would've.

Someone could still cheat by making another piece of software that maps turbo functions. There are also PC gamepads with built-in turbo functions.

Thanks for the help, and it sounds complicated, but I'll check into it!
